Living Off The Land

With summer approaching Chef is planting for his new summer menu, several types of lettuce, strawberries, artichokes and spring onions to name a few of the ingredients. Fresh is always best and our kitchen team is excited that they have the resources to be able to produce exciting dishes by growing their own fruit and vegetables.

With garden beds located just outside the Piccadilly Restaurant you will often find head Chef Craig Graves wondering through the garden making selections for his next creation. Recently interviewed for the Adelaide Magazine featuring chefs vegetable garden will highlight the diversity of the Grand Mercure Mt Lofty House and living off the land.

Mount Lofty House Vintage 2008

The Grand Mercure Mount Lofty House has released it's first vintage of Chardonnay, picked by the staff and produced by the Lane winery. The small block the highest in the Adelaide Region and attached to the Hotel has produced a small but easy drinking quality chardonnay wine.

Unique to the property the vines were planted 2.5 years ago as a feature for the hotel and it's guests. Surprisingly with rich soil and ideal climate conditions Mt Lofty House produced an unexpected yield creating an exclusive limited edition wine. The staff are very proud of the harvest and look forward to trying the first glass when it is ready to drink in mid March

New Beds, Flat Screen TV's, additional accommodation rooms, UpGrade to Mt Lofty House

The Grand Mercure Mt Lofty House was recently purchased in early May by local investors with the task to re position the Hotel as the leading Boutique Hotel in South Australia. Work has already begun on an additional 4 accommodation rooms returning old office space back to original accommodation. The Coach House has recently had a face lift with plans to build a deck to take in the views of the Piccadilly Valley. The development of the Coach House has also increased the capacity for a third wedding reception venue. Landscaping of a second ceremony site overlooking the Botanical Gardens for the summer months is already underway.

New beds, flat screen TV's, additional accommodation rooms along with free WiFi internet has also been completed as part of the plan to revitalize Mt Lofty House.

New Venue at Mount Lofty House

With the arrival of Spring, we are pleased to open our latest venue for events, dinners and weddings. The original Coach House has been restored to provide a new, unique venue at Mount Lofty House. This building is flooded with natural light from skylights & the glass barn door. A newly completed terrace provides stunning views across the valley. The ideal discreet location, free of any distractions and with space for a wide range of uses. Come visit us to view the Coach House as the venue for your event.

Planting commenced on our latest Vineyard

Grand Mercure Mount Lofty House already has one producing vineyard, and construction is underway on our latest venure. Stay tuned.

Mount Lofty House wins Best Ceremony Venue Award

General Manager Jessie Sheehan and staff attended the 2009 ABIA Awards and received the Best Wedding Ceremony Venue Award. Our iconic Tiered Lawns are a picturesque backdrop for your wedding ceremony.
