After planting the first grape vines in the Adelaide Hills in the 1850s and regularly hosting parties that became infamous, it was only appropriate that Arthur had one of the most amazing cellars of the day. Unfortunately this cellar fell into disuse over the years and this year we have carefully excavated, restored and expanded the cellar underneath the original house. Our Sommelier has put together a cellar to rival any in the state, indeed Gourmet Traveller Wine awarded us with the ‘Best Listing of South Australian Wines’ in the country at the recent Australian Wine List of the Year awards. Guests have the opportunity to tour the cellar and have a hosted tasting in the cellar’s private tasting area.

Three American Redwoods, or Sequioias, were planted by Arthur Hardy when he purchased the property in 1852. Often referred to as ‘a planter of trees’ he also founded the botanic gardens which were originally part of the grounds. These trees now tower over the property and it is in their honor that we name our estate sparkling. Organically grown at 727m, our two vineyards are the highest in the state and is renown for producing some of the best fruit in the region. Our sommelier can take your group on a tour through the vineyard, taste the grapes and try Sequoia where it is grown. A great option for Champagne lovers.

Arthur Waterhouse was the house’s second owner and was responsible for renovating the property to its current form. He was very well regarded, and in his honor we have named the Arthur Waterhouse Lounge. It is only fitting that for such a fine gentleman we put together the region’s largest whiskey and spirt collection for the what is quickly becoming one of the hottest cocktail bars in the state. Our head barman has travelled the world, working in some amazing bars. What better way to begin or end an event that a cocktail masterclass?

The Heysen trail is one of the longest in Australia at 1200 km and we are lucky it runs right through the property. This is a great opportunity for the more active visitors and we can arrange guided walks, orienteering, and team building activities throughout. Alternatively why not visit the summit to check out some of the best views around back over Adelaide and the ocean?

Cleland Wildlive park is less than a kilometre down the road offering many native wildlife experiences. Alternatively we can arrange for the animals to come to site to meet your group; a great option for international guests, or just those of us that love animals.
