Mount Lofty Estate is enticing visitors to the Adelaide Hills this winter with its new outdoor Nordic inspired wellness retreat, garden dome, Winter roasts, outdoor fire pits and warm lounge spaces with log fires.
The grounds of Gatekeeper’s Day Spa is now home to a chalet style wellness hub where guests can immerse themselves in the outdoor temperature driven sanctuary under the misty skies of Mount Lofty.
Guests can submerse themselves in a cedar clad hot tub, two saunas, one steam and one infrared, and a chilly ice bath for an invigorating and rejuvenating health experience. Inside the historic cottage guests can continue the enchanting wellness sojourn, with exquisite treatments and rituals for face and body.
Mount Lofty House is also offering an immersive and enchanting winter woodland dining experience in the garden dome under a 170-year-old Sequoia tree. In the warmth of the dome, groups of up to six people can enjoy a Mount Lofty House classic High Tea with its symphony of flavours, delicate finger sandwiches, decadent desserts, and freshly brewed teas and coffee.
The outdoor experience at Mount Lofty also includes outdoor fire pits to sit and enjoy a glass of Adelaide Hills red or toast a marshmallow or two. Or visitors can step inside to the Arthur Waterhouse Lounge which has been transformed into a cosy ski chalet, Après Lofty, for the winter season. With soft furnishings, warm fires, chessboards and exclusive drink offerings from Mulled Wine to Hot Toddy’s, it is the ideal spot to settle in for the afternoon and watch the clouds roll through over the Piccadilly valley.
Martha Hardy inspired roasts are also back on the menu for Winter weekend lunches during July. Winter roasts are inspired by the Estate’s historical custodian Arthur Hardy’s wife, Martha, who roasted sides of lamb and whole legs of beef in the kitchen throughout the 1850’s.
First up on the menu is Martha Hardy’s Signature 17-hour Braised Fleurieu Peninsula Lamb shoulder for two people, served with caramelised pumpkin puree, confit turnip, heritage carrots, garlic jus. Adding to the traditional fare are lemon and herb infused Abelsway roast chicken with herb stuffing and roasted 36 Degrees South beef sirloin with tallow Yorkshire pudding.
The classic Sunday roast at Mount Lofty House is a wonderful way for friends and families to enjoy a long lunch overlooking the stunning Piccadilly Valley. Afterwards, visitors to the Estate can retire to the winter fire pits with a red wine or to the Arthur Waterhouse Lounge for a digestive and game of Billiards.
Mount Lofty House has also created an indulgent getaway escape package for the winter season;
The Winter Warmer package starts at $499 per night for a minimum two-night stay and includes a $300 Estate credit to enjoy at any of the dining spaces, including Hardy’s Verandah Restaurant, or towards an indulgent treatment at Gatekeeper’s Day Spa. Last month Mount Lofty House was voted Best Small and Boutique Hotel in Australia at the 2024 Trip Advisor Travellers Choice Awards, and ranked 22nd in the world.
